Lone Peak Police  had a total of 110 calls for service for the week in Highland and Alpine. This is from 0700 hours on 01/23/2012, until 0700 hours on 01-30-2012. These are some of the many incidents officers responded to. These calls do not include all the incidents officers respond to on a day to day basis.
 
 
Monday 1/23/2012
 
An officer responded to an Alpine address on a delayed report of a stolen vehicle. The officer met with the complainant who advised the vehicle had been taken while he was out of town and he had just returned to find it missing. The officer gathered all available information and evidence and began an initial investigation. Through his investigation the officer located the vehicle at a pawn shop in Salt Lake City. The appropriate steps were taken to secure the vehicle. This case is ongoing and currently under investigation.
 
The school resource officer at Lone Peak High School coordinated with the K9 Officers and conducted some proactive enforcement at Lone Peak High School using the K9 units to search for drugs and other items of contraband. Police Service Dogs Harras and Ringo conducted numerous sniffs at the High School and were able to indicate on several lockers. These indications later lead to locating two possible suspects who had been involved in drug activity at the school. The School resource officer is currently investigating these individuals.
 
Officers responded on two non injury traffic accidents in Highland on this date. All information and evidence was gathered, and traffic accident investigations were conducted at both scenes. Reports were then filed on the incidents.
 
Tuesday 1/24/2012
 
While on residential patrol in Highland an officer affected a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been reported by a citizen as driving recklessly. Upon making contact with the driver the officer witnessed signs that the driver of the vehicle may be impaired and operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety and chemical tests were performed on the driver. It was determined the driver was indeed operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
 
Officers responded to three traffic accidents with injuries on this date. Two in Alpine and one in Highland. Officers arrived on scene at each incident and provided medical assistance until Fire personnel arrived. At that time all information and evidence was gathered, and a traffic accident investigation was conducted. Reports were then filed on each incident.
Officers received two reports of incidents involving sexual assault involving children in Highland. The incidents were not related and are currently under investigation.
 
Wednesday 01/25/2012
 
Officers responded on a medical call in Alpine. Officers arrived on scene and provided medical aid until fire personal arrived on scene. The officer then assisted as needed until the Fire Department cleared.
 
Officers responded to two Highland addresses on reports of non injury traffic accidents. All information and evidence was gathered, and traffic accident investigations were conducted. Reports were then filed on the incidents.
 
An officer was dispatched to a call where a vehicle was driving recklessly around a school bus while the bus was dropping off children at their bus stops. The officer responded and conducted a thorough check of the area. The officer located the vehicle a short time later and spoke with the driver regarding his actions. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation and released.

While on residential patrol in Highland an officer affected a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. Upon making contact with the driver the officer witnessed signs that the driver of the vehicle may be impaired and operating the vehicle under the influence of some type of substance. Field sobriety and chemical tests were performed on the driver. It was determined the driver was indeed operating the vehicle under the influence of multiple drugs. The driver was arrested and released to a responsible party.
 
Officers responded on four animal control calls on this date. One in Alpine and three in Highland. Each incident was handled accordingly with no further serious issues or concerns resulting. Reports were filed on all incidents.
 
Officers were dispatched on a residential alarm in Highland. Upon their arrival the officers made contact with a male on scene who appeared to be working on the house. The officers contacted the home owner and found the individual had permission to be there. The officers cleared without further incident.

Officers responded on five animal control calls on this date. Two in Alpine and three in Highland. Each incident was handled accordingly with no further serious issues or concerns resulting. Reports were filed on all incidents.
 
An officer affected a traffic stop on a vehicle in Highland for a traffic violation. Upon meeting with the driver and conducting records check the officer found the driver had an active warrant for his arrest. The officer made arrangements for the driver to post bail, then issued the driver a warning on the above mentioned violation and documented the incident.
 
An Officer was dispatched on a residential alarm in Highland. Upon his arrival the officer made contact with the alarm company and found the residences to be secure. The officers cleared without further incident.
 
Saturday 01/28/2012
K9 units were called to assist an officer on a traffic stop. The initial officer had indicators and reason to believe there may be illegal substances in the vehicle he had stopped. Police Service Dog Ringo conducted a sniff of the car and positively indicated on the vehicle confirming the initial officer's suspicions. The vehicle was searched by officers, and a controlled substance was located in the vehicle. The suspect was dealt with accordingly and the incident documented.
 
Officers were dispatched to a Highland address on a family fight call in progress. Upon their arrival officers conducted an investigation and were able to determine that the argument was between a child and his sister, and it had only been verbal with no criminal violation occurring. Officers calmed the situation, and all information was gathered, and a report filed on the incident
 
While on residential patrol in Highland an officer affected a traffic stop on a vehicle for a driver's license violation. Upon meeting with the driver and conducting records check the officer found the vehicle operator's driver's license was revoked for alcohol. The officer also found eth passenger had several active warrants for her arrest. The officer issued the driver a citation on the above mentioned violation, and placed the passenger into custody, and transported her to the Utah County Jail, and documented the incident.

While on residential patrol in Highland an officer affected a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the driver the officer witnessed signs and smells that there may be controlled substances present in the vehicle. The officer spoke with the driver regarding his concerns and the driver admitted to possessing marijuana in his vehicle. The officer recovered the marijuana and issued driver a citation on the abovementioned violations.
 
Officers responded to a Highland address on a non injury traffic accident. All information and evidence was gathered, and a traffic accident investigation was conducted. A report was then filed on the incident.
 
While on residential patrol in Alpine and officer saw two juveniles who appeared to be hiding behind the restrooms at Legacy Park. The officer made contact with the males and found due to their age they were out past curfew. The officer logged the male's information, and then released both males to their parents.

Officers responded to a home in Highland to conduct some follow up in regards to some suspicious circumstances and persons in the area. Upon making contact at the home information was obtained that provided officers with reasonable suspicion that a recent occupant of the home was involved in illegal activity. This information was confirmed by information and evidence obtained at the home. Officers have since been able to tie the suspicious individuals involved to numerous vehicle and residential burglaries in Alpine and Highland. This investigation is ongoing.

An Officer responded a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the complainant's neighbor's driveway in Highland. The complainant did not recognize the vehicle and was concerned with all the break-ins recently. The officer responded to the area and found that the vehicle was the complainant's neighbors and was registered at that address. The officer filed a report on the incident and cleared.

An officer responded to an abandoned 911 in Highland. Upon making contact at the home and speaking with the home owner it was determined everything was ok, and no problems existed. The officer cleared without further incident.
Officers responded to a residence in Alpine on a report of a fire alarm going off in the home. An officer responded and assisted until fire personnel arrived on scene. The officer assisted fire personnel as needed until the incident was complete and all units cleared.

Officers responded on a medical call in Highland where a female was possibly having a stroke. Officers provided medical aid until fire personal arrived on scene, then assisted as needed until the Fire Department cleared.
Officers responded to two Highland addresses on a traffic accidents with injuries. Officers arrived on the scenes and provided medical assistance until Fire personnel arrived. At that time all information and evidence was gathered, and a traffic accident investigation was conducted. A report was then filed on both incidents.
An officer responded on an abandoned 911 call from a cell phone. The officer obtained a partial coordinate on the cell phones location and conducted a thorough check of the area without locating any problems or anyone in need of assistance. An incident report was documented and this incident closed.

An officer affected a traffic stop in Highland on a vehicle for committing several traffic violations. Upon making contact with the driver the officer immediately recognized factors indicating the driver was possibly under the influence of alcohol. The officer performed field sobriety tests on the driver and confirmed she had been drinking; However the driver performed the tests in a manner that indicated she was not impaired to the extent of not being able to safely operate her vehicle. The female was issued citations on the above mentioned traffic violations and released to her home which was approximately 100 feet away.
 
Officers were dispatched on two business alarms in Alpine. Upon their arrival the officers made contact with the alarm companies and found the businesses to be secure. The officers cleared without further incident.
An officer responded to a Alpine residential area on a report of a reckless driver. The officer obtained a description of the vehicle and conducted a thorough check of the area, but was unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Contact was made with the complainant and a report filed on the incident.

An officer received a call from a citizen regarding some suspicious activity in her neighborhood. The officer gathered all available information and briefed tall the officers on duty at the time. A short time later one of the officers conducting a residential patrol of that area stopped a vehicle for a non moving violation. Upon making contact with the driver the officer witnessed signs that the driver of the vehicle may be impaired and operating the vehicle under the influence of some type of substance. Field sobriety and chemical tests were performed on the driver. It was determined the driver was indeed operating the vehicle under the influence of heroin. The driver was arrested and charges forwarded on multiple charges. Officers also recovered some controlled substance, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia out of the vehicle.
 
Officers responded to a residence in Highland on a report of a fire alarm going off in the home. An officer responded and assisted until fire personnel arrived on scene. The officer assisted fire personnel as needed until the incident was complete and all units cleared.

The complainant provided the officer with some detailed information on the company requesting we look into the circumstances. The officer spoke with the complainant and found sometime during the night someone had stolen fuel from three construction vehicles that had been filled up the night before. While on business patrol in Alpine an officer located a large box that was in the roadway causing traffic problems. The officer cleared the box from the roadway and got traffic moving before clearing the call.

Officers were dispatched to a Alpine address on a possible death of a person. Upon arriving on scene officers found a death had occurred. A full investigation was conducted at the scene and all available information and evidence gathered. This incident is currently under investigation.

A short time later the individual returned home and was ok. Officers confirmed the person had been located documented the incident and cleared the call.
 
Officers were dispatched to a mental subject in Highland. It was reported that the individual was a juvenile who was threatening to cut himself with knives. It was further reported that the individual was putting knives in his pocket and attempting to leave the residence. When officers arrived, the subject fled the area on foot. Officers pursued the subject on foot and took the individual into custody. The officers coordinated with the juveniles parents and released the child back to them after the situation had been calmed and resolved.
 
Officers responded on seven animal control calls on this date. Three in Alpine, and four in Highland. Each incident was handled accordingly with no further serious issues or concerns resulting. Reports were filed on all incidents.
